What is StoryCraft?

StoryCraft is an education and events platform for writers to develop their skills in craft and network with other members of the publishing industry. We believe that a successful career as an author always starts with writing a great book. We want to help to give you the tools you need to accomplish that goal and help you find community and your path within the world of publishing.

Who is behind StoryCraft?

StoryCraft is the brainchild of writers and publishing professionals who see the system letting writers down time and time again without a way forward. Instead of getting a form rejection, we want to empower writers with the ability to grow their skills and write novels that shine with StoryCraft. We also know how important community is within this industry. No one writes and publishes a successful book entirely on their own.

Lindsay Leggett (aka Theo) is a writer, editor, and former literary agent with a love for all things StoryCraft. She writes devastating stories about complex and flawed characters.

Jessica de Bruyn is an editor, writer, and writing coach. She started studying storytelling as an actor and singer before writing and editing for the stage, screen, novels, and graphic stories.

What will I get out of these emails?

StoryCraft Academy is an intensive look into the entire process of writing a novel, from idea generation through to editing and publication. You can follow the entire course through six modules, accompanied by our StoryCraft: Writing Your Novel Official Workbook. We also have individual articles on writer’s craft and publishing industry topics that come up in our writing and editing work.

StoryCraft Events are our way of bringing writers together while working on their craft. These will have you thinking about your WIP while also networking in a fun and supportive environment.

The Toronto Lit Calendar is an initiative to promote all literary events happening in and around Toronto. We want to encourage our fellow writers to get out there to meet and support their peers!
